ExploreCSR 2020
UC San Diego is organizing a 15 week mentorship experience, supported by an ExploreCSR grant from Google, to provide computer science research exposure to local community college women students. Community college students will be connected to computer science graduate student mentors at UC San Diego. During this experience, students will be completing a small research project with the support of their mentor. This program is intended to increase the participation of all women in computer science; we encourage all who are interested to apply.

Overview
UCSD CSE Research Open House 2020
Students who are accepted will be invited to attend the UC San Diego CSE Research Open House At this event, students will have an opportunity to meet with fellow UC San Diego graduate students and learn more about the exciting ongoing computer science research at UC San Diego. This will also be an opportunity for students to first meet with their graduate student mentors and plan future meetings, so attending this event is highly encouraged. You can find the schedule for the day here.
Weekly Meetings with Graduate Mentors
Each student will be assigned a UC San Diego graduate student mentor who, they will connect with for about an hour every week for the duration of the workshop. Students will be matched to mentors in groups, based on the computer science topic they express interest in. These meetings will occur via video call. During these meetings, the mentors will learn more about their mentee(s), share experiences about their research and guide the student on a small research project.
UC San Diego CSE Undergraduate Research Symposium (June 2020)
At the end of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to present their research project as a poster during an undergraduate research symposium at UC San Diego. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their research and presentation skills to a wide audience of peers and faculty.
